POMONA - A 27-year-old Pomona man was struck and killed early New Year's Day when he tried to cross the 10 freeway after crashing his car into the center divider. David L. Akins crashed his Volkswagen GTI into the divider of the eastbound 10 east of Indian Hill Boulevard at 2:26 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. He was struck in the fast lane by a 1999 Honda Accord driven by 43-year-old Scott L. K. Hoang of Fontana. Hoang was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter.
