Over the past ten years, many friendships have started and/or been renewed on LiveJournal. Of your current LJ friends, who have you known the longest?

I'm not even sure who in that group I started talking to first but all those people I started talking to around the same time. I know Greg is in the military which is probably why he hasn't posted in a while, Josh is in China and last time I talked to him, he told me that they blocked LJ so he gave me his address so I could write to him. Dani... I just don't talk to really anymore :-( But then, I don't talk to many people any more. Brooke I'll sometimes shoot a message through LJ but that's really it.

I was wondering something the other day.

How many people would actually put effort into trying to contact me if I just disappeared off the face of the internet and stopped answering my phone.

I doubt many, if any at all, would really do anything, assuming they actually noticed I'm missing. But if they did notice, and they wanted to do something, what would they do? Would they write to my last known address? Would they contact people who live close to me and ask them what they know? Is there anything else that could be done short of checking the local papers to see if my name is in the obituaries?

It's an interesting thought. I suppose what it really comes down to is the internet isn't a very personal place. People come and go all the time and it seems that we've become so used to it that if someone just stops showing up at some point, we don't even notice it. It's kinda sad to think about, though.
